Wolf Infomation Breed?: Grey~ Crush?: None yet~~ Mate?: Nope~~~
| Subject: Amadia Wed May 15, 2013 1:04 pm | |
| • Basics Name: Amadia Age: 2 years, 11 months Breed: Grey Wolf Rank: Scout (when accepted, that is) Gender: Female
Tone of voice: Direct, but not exactly forceful. Her tone is usually neutral. Desired rank: Scout Nickname: Ama, Dia Name pronunciation: ama-DI-a (stress the "di" instead of the "ma") Name meaning: lightning-spirit
• Appearance
Amadia's coat is black, although it looks brown in the sun. Her fur looks shaggy giving her a thick, large appearance; however this is not the case. Under the fur, Amadia is svelte with a mostly average build. Her ears are unusually fuzzy, but the fur does not obstruct her hearing at all. Amadia's eyes are somewhat of a mystery. They are a pale green color, but if stared in for a while they seem to be clear, leaving the thin, dark ring behind that would surround her irises.
• Persona
Amadia’s personality parallels her intimidating appearance in some ways. The way she speaks is direct and to the point. Occasionally she doesn’t finish a sentence where one should be. Amadia has a firm grip on her emotional allowance; her favorite face is a neutral one (or sometimes, slightly hostile). While on the outside she is distant and curt, inwardly she does feel, despite how she tries to control it; it would seem that because she keeps her emotions on a tight leash makes them all the more real. She is not afraid to challenge authority, and this is because she has very independent ideals. Not in a sense that they are very different, but they are very much her own and only her own. Habits: Amadia tends to spread her rear toes in order to feel the earth between them; she doesn’t know why she does this. It feels good to her.
She loves storms; the roll of thunder doesn't scare her at all, but rather makes her feel powerful. Watching the lightning exhilarates her. Running in the pouring down rain with lightning flashing all around her makes Amadia believe herself to be invincible. This is the only time she ever allows wonder to reach her.
• History
Amadia’s first few months of life passed normally: she lived in a pack with her mother and siblings. Life was good: the territory was secure, morale was high and every day ended in a full belly. She was happy there. The little she-wolf was bouncy and loved to run, not caring who she disturbed. Amadia’s mother, Daria, was busy watching out for her, and it was especially hard for her considering she was born with bad hips. This peaceful time of Amadia’s pack stretched to before her mother was alive, so, in an unusual case, she was readily accepted into pack life despite her disability. One of the leaders of the pack, Ruth, always cared for Daria, having a special soft spot for her. This routine continued for many, many months. However, this peace was not to last much longer. Amadia was six months old when a forest fire ripped through her pack’s woodland territory. Every wolf escaped, fortunately, with minor casualties, but the woods had been a major source of nourishment for the pack as long as any of them could remember, and now it was all burnt to a crisp. Unusable. The pack lived for weeks in hunger, scraping up any and all nutrients they could get their paws on. For a while they got by, but the starvation was starting to play with the minds of all the pack members, and tension grew. Eventually the stress grew to a boiling point, and Ruth, the once-caring she-wolf, decided in a hunger-crazed fit decided to expel Daria from the pack, seeing as she was a drain on resources. The old she-wolf put up no fight; she couldn’t afford to be weakened further. Amadia’s brother and sister, Dash and Mingan, stayed with the pack, too afraid to live as outcasts. Amadia, however, decided to follow her mother into exile, knowing that the two would be able to find new territory and new food. Mother and daughter did fair well up until Amadia was a year old. A day came when Daria’s old heart could beat no more, and she died in her sleep. Amadia grieved for her mother, but did not fall into despair. She had learned enough from Daria to know how to survive. And that’s just what she did. She found a shallow cave under some boulders to call her home until she became old enough to disperse, or in her case re-disperse. Two months passed since her mother’s death, and one day a new scent crossed the plain. A young dispersal male from who-knew-where. Amadia went searching to confront the traveler, and when she found him, her survival-hardened tongue and heart gave him a good, direct lashing. The young male remained undeterred by this, and he attacked the lone-she wolf on the spot. The fight didn’t last long: the dispersal had caught the young she-wolf off guard when she had turned around, finished telling him off. He jumped on top of her and got a good bite in just below her neck. Amadia could only lay down, cringing in pain while the dispersal soundly beat her. She faintly remembers crying, begging him to stop hurting her, to make the pain stop, but he was only egged on by her lamenting. When the dispersal finished tearing her apart, he moved into Amadia’s cave and told her that if she was there the next morning, he’d kill her. Amadia didn’t want to die, not after everything she had survived: the fire, her mother’s death, living alone. She decided three things that day: she was going to live, she was going to find a new pack, and she was going to shield herself. She was not going to let others perceive her as weak. Never again. Look where crying had gotten her; weakness only brought pain. The young wolf dragged herself far away from her old home. After several hours of traveling, Amadia came upon an old fox den. She crawled inside and cried, deciding that this would be the last time. Ever. Afterwards, her heart guarded, Amadia set out to find a new pack, and that’s where she was left.

If pain, suffering and the attacker all walk together, who does the victim walk with? It takes a while to come up with a true answer. Pain is universal in this way. Everyone hurts; no one is exempted from physical abuse. No one. The victim carries pain and endures it, running in vain to the place in which it can finally be dropped. Amadia shouldered a similar burden. The fox den the she-wolf sheltered in was just too small to accommodate her size: her shoulders dug into the roof at the top of the hole, and her rear legs remained sharply bent. Before that day, Amadia did not know pain. A few, fleeting moments in the past were the only times in which she glimpsed pain. It was a stranger, a mere face floating on the peripherals. But now pain greeted her as an old friend. It radiated from her paws, her belly, her back, everywhere was burning with pain’s course embrace.
The injured she-wolf laid down as far as she could and set her head on the ground. I let this happen, she thought. I was weak. I am weak. Her thoughts spiraled in her head. They blamed her for this. She blamed herself for this. The anger and the bitterness and the newly reborn grief for her mother all swirled violently, swallowing her whole. This silent torrent refused to remain taciturn, however. A tear leaked over from Amadia’s eye, then another, and then the floodgates would not close. The she-wolf’s black-furred shoulders heaved with her sobs. But no! She couldn’t cry! No, no, no!
“Hush, you idiot, be quiet!” she snarled through her tears, but she could not. The self-discipline had to wait. She was afraid; for maybe the third time in her life, Amadia was truly, undeniably afraid. Crying had got her here! Injured, bleeding, alone, homeless. Her own emotions were her downfall. The dispersal attacked her because she was passionate, and it made her look weak. She was sure of it. The illusion of weakness had become real, and now she had real wounds to nurse.
She could not cry here. Not now, not after what had happened. Amadia shook her head and set her jaw and let the tears run over her now still cheeks. This would be the last time she would cry. Sadness was the enemy. Anger was the enemy. Happiness was the enemy. Feeling was the enemy.
Amadia would not be weak. | |
